We depart from your home with our exclusive door to door pick-up service and travel south to Newquay. On arrival at our hotel we have time to relax before dinner this evening.
Built into the Cornish countryside, the Eden Project is often described as the Eighth Wonder of the World. With thousands of species of plants to see both indoors and out and a wealth of activities taking place every day, there is always something new to set our eyes on. The aerial walkway affords lovely views over the Rainforest Biome, the largest rainforest in captivity. Amble amongst the orange and lemon trees in the Mediterranean Biome and in the 30-acre Outdoor Garden discover a wide variety of plants that flourish in the Cornish sunshine.
Later well visit Charlestown, fans of BBCs Poldark will be familiar with the starring role that the stunning Cornish locations play in the TV series. As you enter the village you are transported back in time. The sight of the small fleet of square riggers at anchor in the Grade II listed harbour adds to the atmosphere of times gone by. It is quite clear why this unique little port has played a part in many TV series and movies, including Hornblower, Mansfield Park and The Onedin Line, amongst others.
Today we enjoy river cruise and relax as we enjoy the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a stunning unspoilt landscape of Cornwall.
This unique sea route from Falmouth to Truro will take you past iconic maritime locations, historic houses and landmarks, as well as taking you up close to the array of ocean-going vessels laid up at anchor on the upper reaches of the Fal River.
Youll cross the third deepest natural harbour in the world at Falmouth with its bustling docks overlooked by two Tudor castles.
This morning we head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. These historic, award-winning gardens on the Heligan Estate were lost in undergrowth for decades until a groundbreaking restoration project brought the gardens back to life. Explore the Productive Gardens, pleasure grounds and a sub-tropical jungle with exotic plants.
Next, we visit the market town of St Austell, Cornwalls largest town. In the historic centre stands the fine Holy Trinity Parish Church and opposite youll see the Italianate facade of the Market House. The town dates to the 13th century and was once the centre of the Cornish china clay industry.
