DAY ONE

We depart from your selected pick-up point and journey south to our hotel with comfort stops enroute, time to relax in hotel before dinner.

 

DAY TWO

We travel into London this morning after breakfast, the day is yours, and you have a wealth of attractions to visit including the Shard, Westminster and Tower of London to mention only a few.  We will transfer you back to our hotel in Croydon late afternoon.  Time to relax before dinner.

 

DAY THREE

This morning we depart our hotel after breakfast and travel to the Postal Museum. For more than 75 years it was a vital artery in Britain’s communication network, hidden from view. Now you have the chance to experience it for yourself.  We have included a ride on the Mail Rail which is a 20-minute journey under the streets of London. We board a miniature train and descend into the stalactite-filled tunnels, passing below Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant sorting office and see the unchanged station platforms and be transported back in time.  Depart for home mid-afternoon.

This neoclassical style hotel opened in 1928 to serve passengers flying in and out of Croydon Aerodrome.  The hotel now has stylish bedrooms featuring TV, iron/ironing board, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities, the hotel also boasts a chic brasserie serving modern British & European classics.

Mail Rail Ride rules and conditions

We ask all visitors to fully read about Mail rail ride access restrictions, conditions and rules before booking their tickets.

  • Loose articles are not permitted on the ride  – all belongings must be left in the cages prior to boarding. These are attended but are not locked.

  • Emergency evacuation. 

 

In the event of an emergency, trains may have to be evacuated in the tunnels. All visitors must ensure that they are comfortable walking without assistance on uneven terrain, in a confined space and with low lighting levels for approximately 100 metres (328 feet).

 

  • Descends to 21 metres (70 feet) underground through tunnels no wider than 2 metres (7 feet) at their narrowest point.

  • Contains pitch darkness, loud noises and flashing lights. The use of these effects are limited.

  • Maximum speed of 7.5mph (12 kph).

  • Carriages are small and may be unsuitable or uncomfortable for some visitors. The trains’ measurements are: floor to canopy (130cm or 51 inches); seat to top canopy (87cm or 34 inches); door to door width (80cm or 31 inches); and distance between seats (43cm or 17 inches).

 

Rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis and are limited. If no single supplement applies this is limited to single room allocation and therefore additional cost may apply.  Prices displayed are per person unless otherwise stated. If door to door pick up is included there may be additional charges for out of area. Itineraries and hotel inclusions may be subject to change.
