After breakfast, we discover the idyllic villages of Constable Country on a guided tour. We visit East Bergholt, an unspoiled village with many fine old houses and cottages and the birthplace of the famous painter himself. See the church at Dedham, with its 131ft tower, and the little hamlet of Flatford Mill. Both were favoured subjects in Constables paintings, with one of his works being named after the mill.
From here we head towards Felixstowe for lunch, you might choose fish & chips, theres nothing like it by the seaside.
We then have free time to explore before returning to our hotel.
DAY FOUR Lavenham and Melford Hall
This morning our day takes us to Lavenham, one of the UK's most beautiful medieval villages in the heart of Suffolk. We stop in the town where you can wander around its many independent stores and marvel at the unique architecture.
This afternoon we visit Melford Hall. Built in the 16th century and has been home to the Hyde Parker family since 1786 with members still living in the South Wing of the property to this day. Explore the house learning the stories of the people who have lived here over time. In the Gallery you can see the stained-glass window commemorating the visit of Queen Elizabeth I to Sir William Cordell in 1578.
