Highlights

Bakewell   |   Chatsworth House   |   Buxton   |   Bolsover Castle   |   Denby Pottery Village

Day One

We depart from your home with our exclusive home pick-up before joining your coach and travelling to Derbyshire, arriving late afternoon at your hotel, time to relax before dinner.

Day Two

After breakfast we travel to the market town of Bakewell where there will be free time to explore, dating back to Saxon times, Bakewell is home to the famous Bakewell Pudding.

Legend has it that the town's famous pudding was created by mistake by a local cook in the mid-19th century. Today her delectable 'jam tart that went wrong' can be sampled at various bakeries and cafés in the town.

Notable places to visit include the Old House Museum - one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell, the Old Town Hall and the Rutland Arms Hotel where Jane Austen is said to have stayed around 1811.

After time for lunch we depart for Chatsworth House. Chatsworth House is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. Explore over 30 rooms in the house including the Painted Hall, State Rooms, Sculpture Gallery and discover its art, history and family. Plus, learn how succeeding generations have made their mark on one of Derbyshire’s finest country houses.

Chatsworth House is renowned for the quality of its art, landscape and hospitality, and it has evolved through the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of succeeding generations.

Today, Chatsworth contains works of art that span 4,000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, and masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to work by outstanding modern artists, including Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.

Day Three

Our excursion today takes us on an enjoyable scenic journey through the Peak District to the spa town of Buxton, there will be free time to explore.

Buxton, home of Buxton Water, is a thermal spa town nestled in the centre of the beautiful Peak District and the UK’s oldest National Park. It is not surprising it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, with its stunning ornamental gardens and famous Georgian and Victorian architecture.

You could visit the Pavilion Gardens – 23 acres of restored pleasure gardens, enjoy a coffee under the Devonshire Dome or visit the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery.

Day Four

We travel to Bolsover Castle this morning with spectacular views over Derbyshire, this fairy-tale Stuart mansion was designed to entertain and impress.  Wander through the lavish rooms of the Little Castle, explore the romantic ruined terrace range and delight in the views from the Wall Walk.  This afternoon we visit Denby Pottery Village where you will have time to explore at leisure before returning to the hotel for dinner.
