Day Two

Our excursion today takes us on one of the most scenic journeys in the UK along the Great Glen to Fort Augustus at the head of Loch Ness. We follow the eastern shoreline to Inverness with superb views down to the waters-edge, free time in the Highland capital before returning down the west side of Loch Ness, stopping at the Clansman Marina for an hour long cruise, disembarking at Urquhart Castle where many sightings of Nessie have been seen.  Return to our hotel for dinner.

Day Three

After a leisurely breakfast we travel into Fort William with free time before our afternoon excursion exploring the local area.  Neptune’s Staircase – a series of lock gates rising 62 feet from the loch to the Caledonian Canal.  Next, the Commando Monument standing proud as it overlooks the Great Glen where Commandos rigorously trained during WW2.  Finally we take a seat on a Mountain Gondola as it transports you to 2200 feet to marvel at the views of Lochaber & Ben Nevis, there are graded path walks, café and observation platform.

Day Four

The highlight of your holiday beckons, as we board the train for a fantastic railway journey on the West Highland Line to Mallaig, reported to be one of the best rail journeys in Europe.  In Mallaig your coach awaits you to join the ferry over the sea to Skye.  On Skye travel through the mountains to the coastal capital of Portree, returning to Fort William over the Bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, passing Eilean Donan Castle, the location for many films such as James Bond and the Highlands, enjoy wall to wall scenery as we make our way back to our hotel.
