    HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

    DAY ONE – Arrival

    We depart from your home and travel north to Northumbria. We stop off at Richmond, a beautiful Yorkshire Dales market town. On arrival at our hotel we enjoy tea / coffee and biscuits and time to relax before dinner this evening.

    DAY TWO – Historic Alnwick Castle & Garden

    Today we take the road north, past Blyth and Ashington, to Amble, Warkworth and historic Alnwick. We visit the magnificent Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland family dating back to 1309. The castle has featured in several Harry Potter films and also Downton Abbey. There is much to see, including the sumptuous State Rooms. The beautifully landscaped Alnwick Garden has many unique features, sculptures, the infamous Poison Garden and one of the largest tree houses in the world.

    DAY THREE– Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

    Today we have a leisurely day in Newcastle with chance to see the city. As the hotel is right at the heart of the city, there is plenty to see and do including the famous shopping on Northumberland Street, the Great North Museum and renowned bars and restaurants.

    DAY FOUR – Beamish Living Museum

    Today we travel the short distance to Beamish, the world-famous living museum of the North. Here you can relive the story of life in Northeast England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s. & 1950s. Board one of the trams, horse-drawn carts or trains and visit the 1900s traditional sweet shop or explore the 1940s wartime farm, disappear down into the 1900s mine at the pit village.

    DAY FIVE – Lindisfarne and Bamburgh

    Today’s excursion takes us to the north of Northumberland across the causeway to Holy Island and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle. We return to Bamburgh, with its mighty castle on the beach, for a break, maybe to visit the majestic castle on the beach, or the Grace Darling Museum. We travel back to our hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.

    Please Note: The crossing of the causeway to Holy Island is governed by tide times. It may be necessary to amend this excursion.

    DAY SIX– Departure

    After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
