    This holiday visits the ‘Granite City’ of Aberdeen where we include visits to a variety of attractions in the area. Including Haddo Castle, Pitmedden Gardens, Gordan Highlanders museum and Grampian Transport Museum.

    DAY ONE - Arrival

    We depart from your home pick-up join your coach and drive north with refreshment stops en route. Arrive at your hotel in Aberdeen late afternoon, time to relax before dinner.

    DAY TWO – Fyvie Castle, Garden & Estate

    After a leisurely breakfast this morning we travel to Fyvie Castle, Garden & Estate. This 13th-century fortress, is home to a vase collection of arms, armour and paintings, including works by Raeburn and Gainsborough. The Gardens feature a picturesque loch and walled garden, brimming with colourful seasonal displays and historic glasshouses.

    We then journey south to the village of Oldmeldrum for our lunchtime stop before making the short drive to Haddo House & Garden. Visit the delightful terrace garden with flower beds, lovely borders, and a fountain. A magnificent avenue of lime trees leads to adjacent Haddo Country Park, with lakes, monuments, and wildlife.

    DAY THREE – Gordan Highlanders Museum and Aberdeen Art Gallery

    Today we travel a short distance to the Gordan Highlanders Museum. Enjoy a guided tour of the interactive museum, which tells the story of one of Scotland's most famous Army regiments the Highlanders from 1794 – 1994. On the grounds, there is a Victorian Walled Garden and a Replica WW1 Trench to explore.

    Later we head to the Aberdeen Art Gallery home to one of the finest collections of Art in Scotland. Is a variety of exhibits that showcase work by local, national, and international artists, designers, and makers.

    DAY FOUR – Grampian Transport Museum and Alford Heritage Museum

    This morning, we enjoy a scenic drive West to the Scottish village of Alford. Where we visit the Grampian Transport Museum home to an impressive range of transport exhibits, from travelling chariots of the 1800s to some of the fastest cars ever made.

    Later we visit the Alford Heritage Museum which showcases a range of exhibits that tell the story of life in this area of Rural Scotland in bygone eras.

    DAY FIVE – Departure

    After our breakfast, we begin our journey home with comfort stops en route.

    The Aberdeen Altens Hotel is pleasantly situated on the outskirts of the ‘Granite City’ Aberdeen. Hotel facilities include heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a gym. All bedrooms are ensuite and have television and tea/coffee facilities. This hotel has a lift.

    Please note: all single rooms are double for sole occupancy. The hotel currently does not have any bedrooms with walk-in showers/shower cubicles, other than 1 disabled accessible zip/link bedroom with a wet room, although the hotel hopes to have some further walk-in showers by 2026 – please enquire.
