We feature a visit to ‘The most beautiful castle in the world’ – as Leeds Castle is known, Hever Castle with its Tudor connections, and Historic Dockyard Chatham, the filming location for Call the Midwife.

    DAY ONE – Arrival

    We depart from your home and travel to Maidstone, arriving late afternoon.

    DAY TWO – Tunbridge Wells, Hever Castle and Southend-on-Sea

    This morning we drive to Royal Tunbridge Wells. This historic spa town has welcomed visitors for over 400 years. Browse the chic independent shops of the colonnaded Pantiles and the buzzy cafes, bars, music, and one-of-a-kind shops on the high street. After lunch, we journey to Hever Castle, the former childhood home of Anne Boleyn. The story of the Tudors at Hever is depicted in the many portraits around the castle. We’ll then have free time this afternoon for you to enjoy Southend-on-Sea at your leisure.

    DAY THREE – Rochester and Chatham Historic Naval Dockyard, Call the Midwife Tour

    Today we will visit Rochester, where Centuries of history and heritage are waiting to be discover in a place cherished by the Victorian novelist Charles Dickens, who lived in the area as a child and returned as a successful author. Rochester also has a magnificent Cathedral. Later, we travel the short distance to Chatham and the famous Historic Naval Dockyard. This is the filming location for the popular series Call the Midwife. We will enjoy a themed, guided tour including access to the impressive new Call the Midwife exhibition. After our tour, you are free to explore the abundance of historic buildings dating from 1704, three warships, dry docks, the Royal Dockyard Museum, and much more.

    DAY FOUR – Canterbury and Leeds Castle

    Today we visit to historic Canterbury, with its famous Cathedral. The town centre is very compact and is best explored on foot or by horse-drawn carriage. We have a chance to have lunch here before we visit Leeds Castle this afternoon. Set on two islands on the River Len, the castle has been home to generations of Lords and Ladies for over 1000 years. We are transported through around 900 years of the castle’s history – in a sumptuous mix of period architecture, impressive interiors, and family treasures.

    DAY FIVE – Departure

    After breakfast this morning we depart our hotel, and make our journey home, with comfort stops en route.
