The sheer beauty of the Lake District has inspired poets and artists for centuries, and on this holiday, we will paint a picture that will last in your memory for years to come. From our base we can explore the dramatic landscapes of the Lakes on this unique holiday.

HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel north to the Lake District. You will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

DAY TWO – Kendal, Windermere Village, Kirkstone Pass and Glendriddig

We head to Kendal for our morning break, the Lakeland store has its largest outlet here, with everything you need for the home, kitchen and more. Our next stop is Windermere Village with its little shops for the lunch period. This afternoon we head over the rugged Kirkstone Pass, with the lonely inn at the summit before continuing to Glenridding where we enjoy a sail on board the ‘Lake Steamer’ along to Pooley Bridge.

DAY THREE – Lake Windermere Cruise and Haverthwaite Railway Journey

Today we ride via St John’s Vale and Lake Thirlmere to the lovely lake’s village of Grasmere, where we take a break. Grasmere was the home of William Wordsworth and his family along with other artists. Sample some gingerbread from the local shop before we head for Ambleside where we enjoy a delightful cruise along Lake Windermere to Lakeside. Here we join the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride to round off the day.

DAY FOUR – Mountain Goat Scenic Excursion

We head west to Keswick where you have time to explore and have lunch before this afternoon’s adventure with Mountain Goat! The Mountain Goat minibuses take us where larger coaches cannot go and we start with a scenic journey along the shore of Derwentwater to Ashness Bridge and Borrowdale, continuing over Honister Pass to Buttermere village. After a break we pass Crummock Water and Loweswater on our way to the Whinlatter Pass Visitor Centre for a break before heading back to Keswick, rejoining the tour coach for the hotel.

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast we leave our hotel and begin our journey home with comfort stops en route.
