Based in Llandudno, your Autumn break includes magical Portmeirion, the historic town of Beaumaris and the beautiful Isle of Anglesey.
Caernarfon | Porthmadog | Beddgelert | Portmeirion | Halen Mon
We depart from your home with our exclusive home pick-up service and travel to Llandudno, arriving at your hotel with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the town before dinner this evening.
This morning we travel to Caernarfon.
Caernarfon is home to Wales most famous castle and an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mighty Caernarfon Castle commands the lions share of attention, but the towns narrow streets and stylishly redeveloped waterfront also merit a visit.
Well then travel to the harbour town of Porthmadog, situated on the Glaslyn Estuary, Porthmadog is rich in maritime history, and has a number of craft shops and restaurants. The town was named after W.A. Maddocks whose ambitious "Cob" embankment scheme led to the town's name, which translates as "Madog's Port". In times gone by, it was a vital, busy shipping port for the international slate trade, brought down from Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Return to our hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.
This morning we will visit Portmeirion with its architectural heritage, its stunning setting and sub-tropical gardens. Portmeirion was created by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1976 to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it. Recreating an Italian village with a truly Mediterranean feel, Portmeirien was also the backdrop for the 1960s TV series 'The Prisoner.'
Later this afternoon we will head to Beddgelert in the heart of Snowdonia.
A short walk south of the village, following the footpath along the banks of the Glaslyn leads to Beddgelert's most famous historical feature; 'Gelert's Grave'.
According to legend, the stone monument in the field marks the resting place of 'Gelert', the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great.
Today we begin with a visit to Halen Mon (The Anglesey Sea Salt Company), where we enjoy a behind the scenes tour where we learn about the history and importance of Sea Salt to the region.
After a scenic drive around the coast of Anglesey taking in the breathtaking scenery and pretty villages on our travels, well return to Llandudno this afternoon with time to relax before dinner this evening.
After a leisurely breakfast and a relaxing morning, well make our way home.
