Follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth as we explore the stunning Lake District.  Wordsworth was inspired by the beauty and grandeur of this National Park and you can witness the same spectacular sites on our tour of Cumbria which includes two lake cruises, a railway journey and a distillery tour with tasting.

DAY ONE – Arrival and The Lakes Distillery

We depart from your home and travel to Cumbria and The Lakes Distillery Company in Cumbria for a fascinating 1-hour tour and tasting. We’ll then head on to our hotel in Kendal with time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and Ambleside

A leisurely morning beginning with a heritage rail journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. We’ll then head along the banks of Lake Windermere to Ambleside. Free time here to wander around before we make our way back to our hotel in time for dinner this evening.

 

DAY THREE – Windermere Lake Cruise

No visit to the Lake District would be complete without a cruise, so today we sail across Lake Windermere to Bowness.  After disembarking explore this popular holiday village at leisure, there are cafes, restaurants, shops, and places to visit such as the World of Beatrix Potter attraction. We return to our hotel for dinner this evening.

 

DAY FOUR - Departure

This morning we leave the Lakes and begin our homeward journey with comfort stops en route.

THE RIVERSIDE HOTEL, Kendal

A converted 18th century tannery, the hotel is situated on the banks of the River Kent, beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th century castle and a short walk away is the centre of this famous Lake District market town with its bustling shops, galleries and museums.

The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and bar and on warmer days guests can take a seat out on the balcony overlooking the river. This hotel also has a lift.
