HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Looe   |   Mevagissey   |   Polperro   |   St Mawes

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home with our door-to-door pick-up service and travel south to the seaside town of Looe and the Portbyhan Hotel which is situated in an unrivalled position right in the heart of Looe, you can relish the panoramic views of the vibrant harbour with only a short stroll into Looe town centre.

DAY TWO - Looe

Today you can relax and enjoy the lovely town of Looe. Maybe take a stroll along the coastal path or stretch your legs in the fresh air on the sandy beach, or simply watch the world go by from the hotel. Alternatively, why not immerse yourself in the history of the smugglers of the Cornish Coast at the Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol (admission not included).

DAY THREE – Polperro

This morning we make our way to the old-world charm of picturesque Polperro the unspoilt quaint old Cornish fishing village whose narrow streets and pretty cottages remain undeniably attractive.

At the entrance to the village, is the 14th century Crumplehorn Inn and Mill, which boasts an impressively restored water wheel consisting of 12 tons of revolving iron and timber.

The village was notorious for smuggling activities during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Everyone conspired to hide the duty-free goods from the excise men.

DAY FOUR – Mevagissey & St Mawes

Today we travel further afield to Mevagissey. an attractive harbourside village which was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery and which still boasts a working harbour, with a few dozen small fishing boats. It has a tradition of boat building dating back to 1745. Many of the old buildings, constructed of cob and slate, bear testimony to a time when the large shoals of pilchards were the livelihood of the whole village.

We will later travel further along the Cornish coast to St Mawes, a small fishing village located at the end of the Roseland peninsula. Being positioned within the gulf stream, the climate in St Mawes is very mild all year round.

DAY FIVE - Departure

After breakfast, this morning we’ll make our way home with comfort stops en route.
