DAY ONE Arrival
We depart from your home and travel to Northumbria, arriving at our hotel, late afternoon. you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
DAY TWO Beamish - Living Museum of the North
This morning we head to Beamish - Living Museum of the North where we step back in time and see how people lived and worked in the late 19th and early 20th century. Staff in period dress add to the amazing atmosphere as they tell their story and guide you through living history. Browse through the schoolhouse, have a peek in the newsagents, or even buy freshly baked goods in the bakery! Take the tram to Pockerley Manor and see what farm life was like in the 1820s. After all this excitement, you can relax in the Sun Inn, a good old-fashioned pub, or visit the traditional tearoom.
DAY THREE Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Today we have a leisurely morning in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a chance to explore the city. As the hotel is right at the heart of the city, there is plenty to see and do including the famous shopping on Northumberland Street, the Discovery Museum, the Great North Museum, and several renowned bars and restaurants.
DAY FOUR Durham
This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham. Acclaimed as a World Heritage Site, the city is dominated by the magnificent Norman Cathedral and Castle sitting high above the River Wear. You have the full day to explore the city and its sights. Wander around its cobbled marketplace and alleyways or discover more about its history with a visit to the Cathedral itself. Or perhaps enjoy some of the delicious food and drink offerings throughout the city!
DAY FIVE Departure
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
