DAY TWO Bure Valley Railway and Southern Comfort Paddle Steamer
Today you have a real treat with a train ride on the Bure Valley Railway as well as a cruise on the Norfolk Broads.
You experience a nostalgic trip by steam on Norfolks longest narrow-gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and bustling town of Wroxham, at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The line runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pasture.
In the afternoon we take a trip on the Southern Comfort Paddle Steamer from the beautiful village of Horning, out to Ranworth Broad and back.
DAY THREE North-Norfolk Railway and Norwich
After a leisurely breakfast we take another wonderful rail journey. Sit back and relax on the North Norfolk Railway. We depart from the smart Victorian seaside resort of Sheringham to the Georgian town of Holt; the North Norfolk Railway runs through the countys most stunning coastal scenery. This is East Anglias premier heritage railway.
This afternoon we visit Norwich. There is plenty to see and do in Norwich including the Cathedral, the Castle Quarter, Royal Arcade, The Guildhall, Englands largest medieval city hall, and of course the famous Lanes. The Lanes are renowned for making friends of strangers: Strangers Hall has been home to mavericks and makers from around the world since the 14th century.
DAY FOUR Houghton Hall and Fakenham
This morning we visit the magnificent Houghton Hall, one of Englands finest Palladian houses and the former home of Britains first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole. Enjoy time to explore the State Rooms at your leisure, admire the impressive art collections and exhibitions, and stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds. Well then re-join the coach after our visit and continue our journey through the beautiful North Norfolk countryside.
This afternoon well visit Fakenham, a vibrant market town that dates to 1250, some time here before we return to our hotel.
