    An Easter break to the Highlands of Scotland, spectacular scenery of the Highlands in the shadows of mountains and forests, beside bright lochs and wide-open moors we explore the Highland Folk Museum as well as the Highland Wildlife Park.

    HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

    DAY ONE – Arrival

    We depart from your home and travel to Scotland arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

    DAY TWO – Aviemore and the Highland Wildlife Park

    After breakfast we make for Aviemore where we take a break for time to explore, enjoy the scenery and perhaps have a bite to eat. Later, we head to the Highland Wildlife Park, home to the famous Scottish Wildcats, many other interesting animals and its own safari drive.

    DAY THREE – The Kyle Line – Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh

    We travel north into the Highland capital, Inverness. Here we join the Scotrail train for one of the Great Railway Journeys of the World - the line to Kyle of Lochalsh. The route takes us through some of the best scenery in the country, skirting lochs and passing remote villages.

    After a break in Kyle of Lochalsh we enjoy the return ride, this time by road, back to the hotel.

    DAY FOUR – Fort William, West Highland Line

    This excursion takes us southwest along the shore of Loch Laggan and through Glen Spean to Fort William. Here we have another train journey - this time on the celebrated West Highland Line to Mallaig. This spectacular line passes hidden lochs and inlets, silver sands, and crosses the magnificent Glenfinnan viaduct on its way west. Mallaig is a major fishing port, and we have time to wander around the harbour and explore the town before we catch the train for the return journey to Fort William. We rejoin the coach here for the ride back to Newtonmore.

    DAY FIVE – Loch Ness Cruise and Inverness

    Loch Ness is our destination today. We travel through unspoilt scenery past Loch Mhor and along Stratherrick to Fort Augustus. Whilst here we have time to obtain lunch and we enjoy a cruise, with commentary, on Loch Ness on board ‘The Royal Scot’ from the Caledonian Canal. Later we leave Fort Augustus and head north overlooking the loch towards Inverness before heading back to Newtonmore.

    DAY SIX – Departure

    After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

    HIGHLANDER HOTEL, NEWTONMORE

    Located on the outskirts of Newtonmore in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, the Highlander Hotel offers friendly service and is famous for its welcome to coach groups. The hotel consists of two separate buildings, one housing the public areas and one housing the bedrooms, with external access between the two. All 80 bedrooms are comfortable and equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Although the hotel does not have a lift, all the public areas and many of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, with the remaining bedrooms being situated on the first floor. There is an informal restaurant, a relaxing, authentic bar, a lounge, and an outside seating area.

    All single rooms are double or twin for sole occupancy, and all rooms have walk in showers.
