SIGHTS & SOUNDS OF CARDIFF BAY

 

The City of Cardiff has been the capital of Wales for over 60 years and is a vibrant mix of old and new.  The fabulous Millennium Stadium and the modern shopping malls contrast with the interesting Victorian and Edwardian Arcades, the ancient castle and delightful old buildings.

 

THE EXCHANGE HOTEL, Cardiff

The hotel opened in 2017 after a £40 million regeneration project and is located between Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay, Mermaid quay is just a short walk away.  Formerly the Coal Exchange building this is now a luxury hotel with beautiful rooms, luxury beds and ornate furnishings.  The hotel also features a tranquil spa, inviting restaurant and bar.  Bedrooms have all the modern-day facilities that you would expect from a hotel of this standard including tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, complimentary toiletries.

 

DAY ONE:

Depart from your home in the morning, travelling to South Wales with comfort stops enroute, arriving mid afternoon, time to relax before dinner.

 

DAY TWO:

The day is free to explore Wales’ exciting capital, this vibrant and cosmopolitan city has undergone enormous regeneration over the past decade or so, its traditional attractions like the fairy tale castle are now complemented by the iconic Millennium Stadium. Along the high street shops and department stores there is a selection of lovely Victorian Arcades containing a wide array of specialist shops and designer boutiques.

 

DAY THREE:

After a leisurely breakfast we make our way through the Valleys to the little village of Pant and enjoy a ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway, one of the Great Little Trains of Wales.  Later we make our way to Brecon for a short break and a chance to enjoy a drink and bit to eat before we return via the Brecon Beacons National Park to Cardiff.

 

DAY FOUR:

Today we visit the Royal Mint which puts 1000 years of history into combining the finest craftsmanship with modern techniques to make coins and medals for over 60 countries, see how the coins in your purse are made, a fascinating visit.  Later we leave for the short journey to Cardiff Bay and you can see first-hand the exciting new developments taking shape.  There are plenty of opportunities to explore and relax and enjoy the views before returning to our hotel.

 

DAY FIVE:

This morning we bid farewell, depart the hotel and begin our homeward journey with comfort stops enroute.
