    DAY ONE – Belvoir Retail Village – The Engine Yard and Arrival

    We depart from your home and travel firstly to The Engine Yard, where you can discover this unique luxury retail village, restored from old estate buildings. Spend your time at this special centre of excellence for local produce, drink and artisan shopping. We’ll then continue to our hotel.

    DAY TWO – Cambridge, inc Guided Tour

    This morning we are off to the famous University City of Cambridge. We start by meeting our guide for a tour of Cambridge ending with a visit to the American Cemetery. Afterward we have a chance to explore the city at leisure and have lunch and enjoy the rest of the day before returning to our hotel later.

    DAY THREE – Rockingham Castle and Market Harborough

    This morning we will make our way to Rockingham Castle. This remarkable castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, has been a family home for 450 years. Prior to the Watson’s ownership the Castle was held by the crown. There are very few other homes that have been continuously occupied for nearly 1000 years.

    We’ll then visit Market Harborough, where you will be able to explore the charming market town, full of history and culture. Be sure to see the iconic stilted Old Grammar School in the town centre, and enjoy some lunch in one of the cafes, you can also walk through the tranquil memorial gardens, just off the town square. The Harborough Museum is also worth a visit where you can discover the mysteries of the magnificent Iron-Age Hallaton Treasure and Harborough’s history.

    We’ll then make our way back to our hotel, with time to relax before dinner this evening.

    DAY FOUR – Stamford and Burghley House

    This morning we’ll visit Stamford a bustling prosperous market town with quaint streets and delicious food. In 1967 the town’s extraordinary architectural heritage ensured its place as England’s first conservation area. There are over 600 listed buildings in and around the town. Largely 17th and 18th century mellow limestone buildings with some older timber framed buildings. Stamford has the finest collection of medieval churches – five in all – of any small town in England.

    This afternoon we visit Burghley House, a 13,000-acre working Lincolnshire estate on the outskirts of Stamford. Built between 1555 and 1587, this is a wonderful example of the great Elizabethan ‘prodigy’ houses built to honour the Queen. Explore the stunning state rooms filled with awe-inspiring works of art and priceless treasures. Find hidden trails, imaginative planting, and Elizabethan trickery in the beautiful gardens.

    We’ll then make our way back to our hotel.

    DAY FIVE – Ironbridge and Departure

    After breakfast this morning we depart our hotel, and make our way back west and to Ironbridge, this beautiful historic town is a great place to stop for a few hours, before we continue our journey home.

The hotel does not have a lift as all bedrooms are ground and first floor only.
