Our first stop today is the bustling town of Newton Abbot, where it happens to be Market Day. This traditional market has been at the heart of the community for centuries. As you stroll around, you’ll discover a wonderful mix of colour and character — fresh local produce, handmade crafts, flowers, gifts, clothing, and plenty of friendly local traders. Whether you visit often or it’s your first time, Market Day always has something new to enjoy.

Leaving Newton Abbot, we follow a beautifully scenic route through South Devon, passing rolling countryside, tranquil river views, and glimpses of the striking coastline. Soon we arrive in Exeter, where you’ll have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the city at your leisure.

DAY FOUR – Dartmouth and Kingsbridge ‘New Years Eve’

As we arrive, enjoy the stunning views across the River Dart, where boats and ferries glide across the water and the impressive Royal Naval College stands proudly above the town.

You’ll have time to explore the historic town centre, with its narrow lanes filled with boutique shops, art galleries, local crafts, and charming cafés. If you’d like to discover a little more of the area’s history, why not visit Dartmouth Castle? This 15th-century fortress guards the mouth of the river and offers wonderful views along with a pleasant scenic walk.

We then continue our journey to Kingsbridge, a friendly market town set at the head of a beautiful estuary. It’s a perfect place for gentle strolling, browsing, and taking in the peaceful scenery. Wander along Fore Street and the surrounding lanes, where you’ll find independent shops, local boutiques, art galleries, and delightful gift stores — all adding to Kingsbridge’s welcoming charm.
