Day One

We depart from your home with our exclusive door to door pick-up service and travel south with comfort stops enroute, arriving at your hotel late afternoon, tea & coffee await you on arrival whilst your luggage is taken to your room.  Time to relax before dinner.

 

Day Two

Today we visit Dover Castle where we experience its unique visitor attraction, the Secret Wartime Tunnels where the dramatic rescue operation of the 1940 ‘Miracle of Dunkirk’ is vividly brought to life.  We then take a fascinating guided tour of the authentic Underground Hospital; there is also the ‘Fire Command Post’ attraction to enjoy which reveals the story of how the castle acted as the military headquarters for the garrison fortress of over 10,000 men stationed in the Dover area.  In the afternoon we visit the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne, the National Memorial is a peaceful spot where the heroes of the Battle of Britain are commemorated in this unique spot high on the white cliffs.  PLEASE NOTE:  the upper floor of the castle Great Tower has steep narrow steps and there are some very steep slopes and cobbled walkways within the grounds.

 

Day Three

This morning we visit the picturesque market town of Tenterden where we enjoy a guided tour and tasting at the award-winning Old Dairy Brewery which is houses in two old World War II Nissan buildings.  We then stroll a few yards to embark on a return steam train journey to Bodiam on the Kent & East Sussex Railway whilst enjoying a delicious ploughman’s lunch, after which we have time to explore Tenterden a little more.

 

Day Four

Our excursion today takes us to the historic city of Canterbury and the oldest cathedral in England, Canterbury Cathedral.  We have the opportunity to join a tour to learn about its story and treasures before spending the afternoon at leisure in the city.

 

Day Five

After a leisurely breakfast we bid farewell and begin our journey home with comfort stops enroute.
