DAY ONE – Arrival
We depart from your home and travel north to the Lake District, first making a stop at Bents Garden Centre where you have a short while before we continue our journey. You will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
DAY TWO – Kendal and Windermere Village
his morning we make our way to the Cumbrian market town of Kendal, home of the ‘mint cake’ and breathtaking views. Kendal offers a fine selection of shopping arcades, boasts two castles, museums and a host of historical buildings to explore at leisure.
This afternoon we have free time in Windermere, a bustling tourist hotspot with independent shops, interesting museums & plenty of places to eat before returning to the hotel for the evening.
DAY THREE – Keswick and Ullswater Cruise
Today we take a scenic drive into the pretty town of Keswick on the banks of Ullswater. The capital of the North Lakes, Keswick has a range of shops, galleries, and interesting places to explore.
This afternoon we journey back to Glenridding on the shore of Ullswater to board the lake ‘steamer’ for a leisurely scenic cruise on the lake to Pooley Bridge where we return to the coach and journey back to the hotel.
DAY FOUR – Grasmere, Ambleside & Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the heart of the Lake District, passing through St John's Vale and alongside the beautiful waters of Thirlmere before arriving in the picturesque village of Grasmere. Take time to explore this delightful Lakeland village, forever associated with William Wordsworth, and perhaps treat yourself to the famous Grasmere Gingerbread.
We continue to the charming town of Ambleside before making our way to Lakeside, where we board the historic Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway for a nostalgic steam train journey through the beautiful Leven Valley.
DAY FIVE – Departure
After breakfast we leave our hotel and begin our journey home, we make a stop at the Imperial War Museum Manchester on route home.
